Key Developments
A summary of key Committee outcomes are outlined below:-
Course Improvements (Greens Convener : Andy Fadian)
Working alongside Alan Jack has led to significant course improvements :-
- Bunkers - 100 Tonnes Sand to improve quality of Bunkers; Ongoing maintenance, including refacing; edging, etc.
- Greens - Aiming for high standard (regular maintenance programme of scarifying; hollow-coring and top-dressing). New flags, pins and cups installed.
- Tees - Ongoing maintenance, including hollow-coring, top-dressing. Introduced Seed/Divot Boxes and Containers for broken Tees.
- New Winter Tee-Boxes – Constructed and installed.
- Drainage – Significant improvements from Burn to 1st Hole, with other key work ongoing alongisde 2nd and 5th Greens.
- Paths – Astro-Grass cut and laid at Path from 9th Green and to 1st Tee. Further improvements underway.
- Short-game Area – Major improvements underway.
- Shoe Cleaner purchased and installed in August 2010, along with back-up Air Compressor, in May 2011.
- Club-Head Cleaners installed in April 2011 at 4th, 7th and 9th Tees.
Competitions (Match Secretary : Graham Roy)
Working alongside Lewis Burnett has led to :-
- More Competitions for members, including 3 Texas Scrambles per year (from 2010); ‘5 Club’ Competition (introduced January 2011); and ‘2 Club’ Competition (introduced June 2011). The full Competitions Diary for 2011 is on the Notice Board and Website.
- Competition Results posted quickly on Notice Board and Website.
- Introduction of Ballot System to avoid delays during Saturday, Medals, with continuous review and refinement;
- Golf Club fully represented at County events.
- Competitions in surrounding Golf Clubs posted on Notice Board along with ‘Yellow Book’ (highlighting facility to play other courses at reduced cost, including Open Days/Competitions).
Fund-Raising (Social Convener/Treasurer : Kenny Wilson)
Working with Russell Gray and colleagues, Kenny Wilson organised 3 very successful Race Nights in June 2010, October 2010 and June 2011, which raised over £2000 and funded :-
- A Shoe Cleaner - installed in August 2010;
- 3 Club-Head Cleaners - installed in April 2011;
- A significant contribution to the cost of the drainage from the Burn to the 1st hole - completed by Green-Tech in July 2011;
Taking account of feedback from members, another Race Night is planned for Saturday, 22nd of October, which will also feature the Golf Club Prize Giving; and an Auction.
We hope members, families and friends continue to enjoy our Race Nights and can look forward to further Golf Club improvements, from the funds raised.
